I had high hopes for the Brooklyn Flea, but it ended up being one of the more disappointing stops on our trip. Though the venue itself was fairly spacious and well-organized, the offerings felt uninspired and surprisingly overpriced. There were only a handful of vendors that stood out, and the kind of charming, unexpected discoveries I associate with European flea markets just weren’t there.

Perhaps it depends on the week, or the weather, or even the season—but on our visit, the experience was lackluster. Brooklyn Flea is a weekend outdoor market selling a wide range of goods such as vintage digital cameras, designer bags, jewelry, and clothes. There are also public restrooms and food offerings during the flea market.

The market itself was quite crowded, with little walking room due to the amount of people but overall was still walkable. The storefonts extend under the bridge but also around the bridge, with a wide range of offerings. Prices are on the expensive side, though some good deals were found for various pieces.

The New York Transit Museum is a hidden gem and one of our favorite places to visit! My kids absolutely love exploring the old trains and learning how everything works, they’re always so fascinated by the history and hands-on exhibits.

We’ve been here multiple times, both on school trips and on our own as a family, and every visit has been just as fun and educational as the last. There’s something really special about walking through the vintage subway cars and seeing how transit has evolved over the years.

The museum is well-organized, staff is friendly, and it’s a great place for kids (and adults!) to learn while having fun. The walk through exhibit is upstairs and you can go down to see all the previous subway carts downstairs. I especially love the bluebird from the 1960s. There's also decommissioned trains from each era where you can go in and see all of the old ads from back then. Green-Wood Cemetery is a 478-acre (193 ha) cemetery in the western portion of Brooklyn, New York City.The cemetery is located between South Slope/Greenwood Heights, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, Kensington, and Sunset Park, and lies several blocks southwest of Prospect Park. Its boundaries include, among other streets, 20th Street to the northeast, Fifth Avenue to the northwest, 36th and 37th Streets to the southwest, Fort Hamilton Parkway to the south, and McDonald Avenue to the east.

Green-Wood Cemetery was founded in 1838 as a rural cemetery, in a time of rapid urbanization when churchyards in New York City were becoming overcrowded. Described as "Brooklyn's first public park by default long before Prospect Park was created",[8] Green-Wood Cemetery was so popular that it inspired a competition to design Central Park in Manhattan, as well as Prospect Park nearby.

I used to live around Dyker Heights and visited last Christmas to see the famous Christmas lights. It’s always a magical experience, with so many beautifully decorated homes and displays. The lights are still stunning, and the neighborhood really knows how to get into the holiday spirit!

I went to Dyker heights back in 2016 and it was fantastic with large area full of Christmas light. Wonderful decorations and attracted so much of visitors. Time fries to December 2024 and I had a friend who visited at this time of the year, so I wanted to impress her during such a celebration time. When we got there, there weren't a lot of houses that has good decoration. Some house just put the light to be ok because they are in the area. Some house didn't decorate at all. Looked so haunted and only few people were walking. I have no idea what happened. The place as a whole invites curiosity. It feels very industrial, with a mix of crumbling and rehabilitated buildings all competing for attention. It was only when I visited the Building 92 Museum in the area that I fully appreciated the place and its long and colorful history - from its humble colonial beginnings, its Industrial-era importance as a shipyard, the years of decline and decay after the shipyard closed, and the process of re-development to attract new businesses, which continues to this day.

We visited The River Café over the holidays with high expectations, especially considering it has been, and still is, regarded as the most exclusive fine dining American restaurant on the water in NYC since 1977. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what one would expect from such a prestigious establishment.

From the moment we arrived, the service felt cold and uninviting. There was a noticeable lack of warmth and attentiveness—it genuinely felt as though we weren’t treated like guests. The level of hospitality simply didn’t match the reputation the restaurant carries.

The food was also underwhelming. For a place with such a longstanding legacy, I expected a memorable and refined culinary experience. Instead, the dishes lacked flavor, creativity, and finesse. For the price, it’s simply not the most worthwhile food in New York there are plenty of other restaurants in the city offering far better meals at a similar or even lower cost.

The only highlight of the evening was the ambiance the view of the Brooklyn Bridge is undeniably beautiful and adds charm to the setting. Sadly, that was the only part of the evening that lived up to the restaurant’s reputation.

I was so excited to try Ample Hills Creamery after hearing about their supposedly amazing ice cream. And yes, the ice cream itself was delicious - creamy, flavorful, and unique. But that's where any enjoyment of my visit ended.

I loved seeing Arundhati Roy and her book discussion. However, despite paying premium price and being in the front getting out of the auditorium was a nightmare. Disorganization with audience blocking exits with no direction from staff. If there was a problem then it could have been very dangerous. Had no idea where to get the book signed. It saddens me to see you all of your concession drinks wrapped in single use plastic. Especially when options like aluminum cans exist for both soda and water.

By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastic that we produce and consume, does not get recycled, but rather ends up in landfills, incinerators, or in our waterways, breaking down into micro plastics that are making us sick.

I would love to see more entertainment venues in our waterfront city better serve and connect to the local environment by not trashing it at every turn. Perhaps the leader ship at Brooklyn Academy of Music would consider more sustainable options for its patrons.

By transitioning to canned water, canned soda, and by butter promoting and highlighting your water bottle refill stations, I think you could make great headway in mitigating the theater’s contribution to the plastic waste crisis.

Because there is no need for a patron (who is coming in to see a two hour film) to consume and discard a bottle that will take over 400 years to break down (into tinier plastics…(

The actual show was incredible. I saw Matteo Mancuso, one of my all time favorites.

The venue is very cool and unique - bowling, plus a huge bar, and a stage behind the bowling lanes. I initially thought the people bowling in the background during the show would be loud and distracting, but it's not.

Simon Posford had a DJ set there, and it was lovely. Just the right amount of crowd, great space, wonderful sounds system (oh my god, the bass!!), chill employees. A guy next to us didn't feel well, as he is diabetic and his suger dropped. A few of the crew came by and spent the time with him without pressure or making a scene out of it until some juice kicked in and he could stand. Great handling of the situation.

The bar seats are nice because you can watch the chefs at work, but it’s very dimly lit, so a table might be a better choice.

Very different and fun bar/circus to go visit. It´s a different show than what you could probably see in the rest of the world but Amsterdam.

Show varies so I can´t talk for other shows, but ours was very sexually artistic, nothing straight of course, highly acrobatic, and one comedy slot that was SO funny.

My first time here was underwhelming to say the least. The floor was VERY wet and a safety hazard. The whole event ended an hour early without notice. Everyone, confused about what was going on, was ushered outside. When I asked if we could go back inside, a large male security guard literally RIPPED a seltzer out of my hands, claiming I “wasn’t listening.” He went out of his way to do this. As I was holding the can tightly, he grabbed it so hard that he crushed the can and almost cut my hand. As if it was my choice to go outside with a drink in the first place (and even if it was, that kind of behavior is still way overboard). I go dancing a lot and have never experienced this kind of treatment from venue staff. It was uncalled for and extremely aggressive. My friends and I left the area immediately as we were genuinely more fearful of him than anything else. The other venue staff I encountered that night were very nice. The leadership, direction and responsiveness of the Events planning team was amazing, beginning with the very 1st phone call and continuing throughout the entire process. Because of them we felt so confident that the party would be fun for all and they didn’t disappoint. Not only was the leadership team awesome, we must also give a shoutout to every single staff member at the event. They engaged the guests with shuffleboard in a way no one expected. Not to mention drink service and table clearing. Most of our friends were not sure what to expect from a “shuffleboard wedding reception”, but they couldn’t have been more pleased with the fun and whole experience.
